We combine modern landscape design with ecological restoration to create beautiful, self-sustaining, natural landscapes that contribute to the health of your city. Our designs utilize a diversity of native plants - many densely seeded - that flower throughout the entire season and support native species like birds and pollinators. We offer lawn replacement, no and low-water landscapes, pest control integration, rainwater systems, hardscaping, and much more. Our team is comprised of experts in ecological, plant, soil and restoration science, in addition to landscape architecture. We use unique methods, materials and plant species to create functional landscapes that are immersive and sustainable. Established in 2014. Restoration Landscaping Co. was started in 2014 by Billy as he finished his PhD in ecology at UC Davis. For many years, Billy had been bringing the species of plants he studied into his garden. Their interactions with insects and other animals - the focus of his research - could be observed from the backyard, which was exciting. Further, Billy noticed that these plants brought in and retained a diversity of beneficial and beautiful insects and birds, which non-native ornamental plants do not do in the same way. With the movement in CA to removes lawns and replace them with drought-tolerant plants, there is an exciting opportunity to intentionally transform cities into natural environments that support native species. We hope that our approach wins over the more conventional drought-tolerant landscaping approach - lots of gravel and mulch - so that cities not only reduce water usage but also support healthy ecosystems and biodiversity.
